Wardrobe building and planning – part 5

July 28, 2011 by Alexandra - 5 Comments

OK, patterns.
I am often drawn to interesting designs with dramatic details. I like them, I want to sew them, and… I’d never wear them. The wardrobe items that get consistent wear around here are of classic shapes, free of extraneous details, in solid colors. Simple, classic patterns then:

Basics - patterns

  1. pencil skirt – my own draft
  2. pants – TNT pattern, originally from Burda WOF 8/98 #106, altered to remove the pleats
  3. fitted shirt – TNT pattern from New Look 6407
  4. knit tank top – TNT pattern from KwikSew 2759
  5. fitted jacket – short version, TNT pattern from FSG 1945
  6. sweater jacket – TNT pattern from PMB
  7. sheath dress – my own draft , both with and without sleeves
  8. sweater/knit dress – TNT pattern from Burda WOF 3/02 #125
  9. coat – probably from Burda WOF 3/10 #101

You’ve chosen some very nice patterns. I’m doing my own corporate wardrobe but am not brave enough to publish a list. I might have to stick to it!

Really great way of planning and I love the designs especially that coat. It’s makes it so easy when you know your style – my problem I love lots of styles but they don’t necessarily suit me.

Look at all those TNT’s. This one should be a breeze. (I really didn’t mean for that to rhyme.)

I just found you today thanks to Carolyn. Your first full sentence in this post says it all. We are clearly twins separated at birth. No more housework today! I will be reading this blog.
